Telluride @ 34

It's difficult to overstate how privileged I feel to be in the San Juan mountains of southwest Colorado again to soak in the overwhelming sensory pleasures of Telluride Bluegrass. Since 1988, this is our fifth one and despite the miles and the moolah required to get to this remote old mining town-turned chi-chi ski resort, it's always more than worth it, given the breathtaking setting and the indescribable vibe created by the world-class musicians who come to play here. Telluride sits in a box canyon at just under nine thousand feet of elevation surrounded on three sides by 14 thousand foot peaks still holding snow on this first full day of summer...that combined with a group of visionaries headed by Craig Ferguson who have built this festival over 34 years into arguably the nation's best presented weekend of Americana music, creating a spiritual vibe that can only be felt, not described. So with that, and with one day down and three to go, I've decided to try to let my pictures do the talking this time...my heart's already so full there's no way I could do this thing justice in words. All I will say is if you can ever work these four days in June into your calendar, it'll be a life-changing experience. More to come...TT
